Hello, how are you in Omaha, Brenda?

First of all, you need to know the mandatory insurance coverage in Nebraska. The state of Nebraska requires uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage, and has the following Minimum mandatory insurance coverage for the State of Nebraska is 25/50/25, which means:$25,000 bodily injury for one person in one accident; $50,000 for two or more persons in one accident; and $25,000 property damage incurred in one accident.

You need to remember that in the State of Nebraska, it is illegal to operate motor vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds or golf carts on Nebraska roadways without liability insurance coverage. It is also illegal for any motor vehicle owner in NE to allow anyone else to drive the vehicle without insurance.

As always, law enforcement officials in Omaha, Nebraska NE will ask for proof of insurance at the time of a traffic stop or at the time of an accident in which damage or injury occurs. A valid insurance card from Nebraska must be presented to provide proof of insurance coverage. If a policy has lapsed or has not been renewed, the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will suspend your driver’s privileges until proof of insurance is provided.

When a violation or an accumulation of violations, such as reckless driving, driving under the influence (DUI) or (DWI), or refusal to test, at fault accidents or driving without insurance, is committed when driving within Nebraska, the State DMV will mandate proof of financial responsibility in the form of SR-22 insurance. This insurance is also known as high-risk auto insurance with some auto insurers in NE.
